Default Pensioners loose out

Well The Brack Government strikes again.
We got my GF's(she is a pensioner, no not old aged) rego papers today, and with it came a small piece of paper saying thet pensioners now have to pay 50% of the Rego fee.
Where all they used to pay was the stamp duty and GST.
This go's in hand with his other stunts like Earning dependant fines and installing Ghey *** faulty speed camera's.

The justification for these increases where that pensioners where going to get more benifits in the long run.
My ***, sounds like he is revenue raising again.
the sooner they are voted out the better.

:monkes:

thats no good at all.
what benifits could possibly warrant having to pay half the rego costs?

definately sounds like revenue raising to me...

Slightly off topic : Well for railway ticket pricing in NSW, Pensioner rates have changed. Whether its for the better or not I don't know.

The govt is always finding ways to screw a bit more money outta people.

Maybe if they stopped ****ing away money on doll bludgers they would have money to spend on people who really need it. I think it's funny you drive through a housing commision area and nearly every unit has a foxtell dish on it's roof, & they all stand out the front smoking Clearly short of cash.

I hear ya on that. Fair enough that the real needy get their help but there's still so many that don't deserve money getting it handed out. Damn do gooders not making it any easier to cut back on this rorting.

A mate of mine once rorted out of home allowance yet was living with his grandparents...bastard.

Still as one mate said, if it wasn't for the dole, some of them would be out robbing homes and doing worse, so funding these people hopefully cuts down on some of the ones that would otherwise resort to crime. The lesser of two evils.

why should people get concessions because they are on a pension? they still use the same amount of road as i do. i'd rather see my taxes used in a more positive way than giving consessions to people.

Matey ... If it wasnt for the sole parents pension I was on my children & I would have starved ...........

From your response it is fair to say you have no idea how little is given out per fortnight to live, pay rent & all other associated bills that are not classed as a luxuary .........

I can assure you that without a concession on my rego I would have been walking ..... & 20 odd k's into town & back with NO public transport lugging enough food for 3 kids wouldnt be much fun .........

so you think it's fair that i being a tax payer (and have been for over 24 years) should subsidise your life? your right i have no idea, because when it's got tough i've done something about it, without handouts.
we've been on the bones of our a$$ a few times, but i've always found a better paying job to help with the lifestyle we prefer. whether that meant moving to a new town or city, so be it.
my point is you're in charge of your life, make changes to it if you don't like it, you shouldn't expect others to do it for you.
as you can see, i'm not a socialist. i've worked damn hard for what we have, so why should i share?

Because you're a nice guy?

I think concessions are fine for a limited time/amount. Most people are only a few paycheques away from doing it tough so I'm happy to pay for people to get back on their feet.

Like everything it's open to abuse.

nsw other states, i reckon have it easy
you pay a flat rate

in qld you'd pay 3 times the amount each year for our rego's (pensioners rate) the price you pay for not needing a rwc each year i guess..

I know Lisa's history better than you and I can say that she isn't in the circumstances she is in because she wanted to be. The system is there to help people like Lisa as a safety net. She is not a bludger and does what she can. I would rather pay 1000 Lisas in her situation than one dole bludger who never wants to get a job.
I am generally against giving money for nothing but sometimes life doesn't happen as you may want it... the people in real need should be looked after.

I agree with XA Coupe, I hope you guys never have to depend on help from the Government.
I Know Lisa isnt a bludger, and i know my GF isnt.
Things happen to people that people cant control, and can change your life in an instant.
The money she gets from the Government is bugger all, and if it wasnt from the small amount of extra benifits she gets from the state/Federal government, she would be living alot harder than she does.

i know id rather see the government help out the people in our own country instead of the big ****ing contest going on over the Tsunami at the moment.
Help out your own family(this country).

/me gets down off soap box.

i agree also, my mum would definately not have been able to survive with 3 kids and no job for over a year without the pension, we still arent doing to great even now that she's got a job.
so it does make a huge difference to the people who need the money to get bye on.

Because you are greedy. Most people are not in charge of their life, the system is... I have worked damn hard too for almost 40 years but it isn't as easy as saying "go get a job or get off the pension". Have you no compassion or is it jusy dog eat dog in your world? Try to listen, or in your case buy, "Underwear Goes Inside The Pants" by Lazyboy.

Exactly.

I'll get hammered for this, but I'm so sick to f'n death of this tsunami shit. Its just another natural disaster amongst the so many that happen all round the world each year. Yes its a tragedy but get over it and move on.

How about directing that money to our own damn country to fix our own problems. Will we ever see all our generosity paid to other countries back to us in our lifetime ??? No.

Why should we be helping other countries when we damn well can't get our own right.

So because you have money, you're obliged to give it to the less fortunate ?? I don't think so.

Yes there are people that will always struggle due to circumstances but it in no way means I should be picking up their slack when I have to work to get where I am.

I thank the guys who have jumped to my defence but as you guys know I will not rest on my laurels .......... I will respond to an uneducated fool

nak351 ....... I too have worked all my life ... well since I was 13 ........ I have paid all my taxes & have done everything to keep my children in one piece after a very nasty split from my ex, whom by the way, I will let you know left me bankrupt .......... I cannot live a normal existance wherever I want to ...... My children & I live in fear every day of their father finding us ......

I am NOT rorting the system & am trying to claw my way back into earning a real wage so we can survive without the handouts as you call them from the government.

To have people like yourself, how have obviously NO idea of what it is like to not know what you are going to feed your children because you have had utilities to pay & then tell me to go get a job I say .....Dont cast the first stone .... matey your glass house will break ........

My children are all of the one father( a term I loosly use) and I am no dole bludger .............. I have come in 3yrs from us having two changes of clothes each to living an almost at poverty line existance ............. Yes we have a computer & yes we have a TV ........ I drive a EB wagon ......... I can tell you living like this is not how I want to live nor how I will live forever ........

I really would love for you to visit a refuge for women who have to escape their violent partners & only then may you learn of what life is really about ...........

i only believe this is happening is because there are many people that stay on the pension just to get benefits such as this, medicine, traint tickets, but its sad to see the people that really need it to loose out
