Default FX 6 Speed

Morning all
we have a 2008, Mach 3, Wagon and have just put a ZF 6 speed auto in, does anyone know what tailshaft will fit and
also why would it not start, we have changed over the wiring loom, changed the computer, i have heard that we need to have the key reprogrammed and something electrical from 4 speed to 6 speed, does anyone recommend an auto electrician in the Marsden Qld, 4132, area, thanks

Since there were no 6 speed wagons, my only guess would be to get one out of a 6 speed BF/FG ute, guessing though?

Wasn't the wheelbase longer on the wagon? 2829 sedan v's 2921 wagon according to google.
Not sure if that'd make a difference to the tailshaft. maybe check the part numbers between sedan, ute and wagon shafts to see if theres any difference.

Wouldn't the Fairlane share the the same Tailshaft as a wagon if the wheelbase is the same (for the 4 Spd) so if a different Tailshaft is needed for a 6spd, the Fairlane ZF one might be suitable then. Does the old Tailshaft from the wagon not still fit? There should be a bit of play in the length of it anyway.

It wont start if you have changed the ECU or BEM, you will need to perform the PATS Reset to match the keys to the new ECU and it will also link all the other computers with the new ECU and allow them to talk. It would have to be a ZF ECU from a BF and not an FG, as the FG ECU will not be compatible with the BF's other computer systems.

Not sure, but it might be possible to do the PATS reset using ForScan.

Problem with the Fairlane is that the flange at the diff is different to suit the IRS diff and they were two piece with a centre bearing. The wagon does not have the support for a centre bearing. If the original shaft is long enough (although I think it may be too long as a 6 speed is longer that a 4 speed), then you may just have to replace the front yoke with a 6 speed style or go for a full custom build shaft. Try a local tailshaft place to see if they have a solution for you. I gather you will end up with a shaft that's a it of this and a bit of that.
