Using emotive language like 'taxpayer funded' is another key argument tool.
Everyone pays tax. How the govt spend it makes absolutely zero difference to me or you having to pay it. All it does is help motivate the pitchfork wielding folk.

Makes a huge difference on the balance sheet of the country, and at the polls come election time, maybe not in South Australia which receives more in the form of taxpayer subsidy than it contributes, look at the GST share of SA vs VIC/NSW/WA in what it contributes vs what it receives. WA has a case here but they've also been subsidised by the rest of the country for the last ~120 years until they started contributing in the last 30 or so years. |

Every time our current PM goes on a jaunt overseas, he takes a South Sydney NRL jumper and $100M cheque to give away. The more they give away, the more we have to pay. "Tax cuts for everybody" ........... what a bad joke. I am on a fixed income, and paying more than I was 5 years ago, while my expenses, i.e. insurance, rego, utilities, food, have all increased. |

Using the term 'tax payer funded' is done to make people think the govt is taking extra money from them. Like I said, it's emotive language.

Vic gov.. spend till they are broke, how do they get money?, introduced over 50 NEW taxes, and increased others… while telling victorians they can have it all, we are going with lower education, medical services, roads etc If governments spend our tax dollars on things that benefit the community, people are good with that, when they waste it on inflated projects or things that have little or no benefit to the community … “insert politician superannuation plan and life time office and staff perks here” then tax payers have every right to be annoyed Having said that, just saw an article where byd plan to release a full range of tractors to meet small medium and large as in Silverado, f150 and Ram sizes for the Aussie market at up to 30 grand cheaper.. does anyone think such a thing will actually gain traction in sales against ranger and hilux?

A tax that was originally for well off investors has turned average Joe owner into a cash cow for the Vic Gov. This tax was set to cover property over 300K, this year it came all the way down to over 50K. Conveniently property valued at under 100K was subject to a sudden valuation hike (by guess who, the Vic Gov Valuer general) to now value it over the 100K bringing in a whole new land tax payer to their coffers. So Governments know how the rub people up the wrong way. We should be taxing these imports not incentivising them.

I am happy I am not in Victoria. Who pays for the cost of planning and issuing of contracts for major stuff that is then cancelled and not done, and then the payment of legal fees and compensation to engineering firms, C'wealth games, etc. Ooops, forgot ....... it is the Govt's money. They just pull it out of thin air whenever they want some. |
