Gasket adhesive for pinto rocker cover?

Hey guys.
I’ve got a leak at the back of my rocker cover. Looks to be where the gasket joins. So I’ve picked up a new rubber gasket from yesterford.
Should I use any gasket adhesive to seal it? Or is it not required?
Was also going to paint the rocker cover while it’s off with engine enamel. Any tips on prep work?
