How are the speed figures on the dash created? Via connection to the drive train or via GPS?
I've fooled around with my phone GPS while on bullet trains in Japan and Korea and they have been pretty accurate.
Did the same when I had a window seat on the plane. Was able to get a reading that matched the displayed speed on the screen.
Would really like to know how they can get such a large discrepancy...
