It will be interesting to see australias infection rates coming into the warmer months if they improve. Queensland has been pretty good numbers wise during winter, but their winter is nowhere near as cold as victoria. My uneducated thoughts as to why Tasmania got away seemingly lightly is due to lower population and lower population density. And even if the same % of the population are idiots as the rest of the country, the same % of a lower population = less idiots.
Now that the US is coming into colder months, it will be interesting to see if their infection rate which is quite high already skyrockets. Same with china, even if they claim its under control, their winters get pretty cold too. And their cities are way up there with the most densly populated in the world.
So i hope not, but untill they work out a vacine, it may turn into a ping pong battle between the northern and southern hemisperes.
