Who's going to take care of you and feed you the cat food? Many dementia patients get violent, I can almost guarantee you that your children and/or spouse won't be up to the task of looking after you for long once you've forgotten who they are and start attacking the stranger in your own home who's trying to feed you.
It's worth having that discussion now with your family.
I'd be interested to see the statistics on how many well-wishing home owners' properties actually end up passed down to their children versus how many get sold to pay for their care.
