They actually do what they say they do, they are correctly rated and they bloody last near forever! I used the (2000) mAh ones and was blown away.

I think they have just made a higher rated one 2500 or 2600 (black ones) and they are better. I think they are made by Panasonic??

All my devices use AA or AAA batteries - I don't do battery packs for the very reason I can find myself in the middle of nowhere with no power and the only power source available will be the corner store selling disposable batteries.

I went on a 3 week holiday once - took well over 1000 pics and video with the screen on then realised that at 2.5 weeks I was still on the same 4 white AA Eneloop batteries.

Even the 'best' comparable rechargeable batteries would last 4-5 days at best.

I have seen Varta around - they are big in Europe I have noticed. Are they German??

I have 8 AA Sanyo Eneloop rechargables, good stuff.
